Un agente dell’Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) ha sparato e ucciso un cittadino messicano durante un controllo stradale a Houston. Lo ha confermato David Venturella, direttore ad interim dell’agenzia federale, spiegando che l’uomo – Lorenzo Salgado Araujo – aveva tentato di investire l’agente, il quale ha aperto il fuoco. Venturella ha descritto la vittima come un «immigrato clandestino».

In un video girato da un passante si vede un veicolo nero parcheggiato ad angolo rispetto a un furgone bianco, con le porte spalancate, e Salgado Araujo disteso a terra tra i due veicoli. Un agente è ripreso mentre è al telefono e una mano sul fianco dell’uomo, che sarebbe stato colpito all’addome. Nelle vicinanze si vedono altri agenti federali accanto ad almeno altri tre uomini ammanettati. L’ufficio dell’ispettore generale del Dipartimento per la Sicurezza Interna sta conducendo un’indagine sulla sparatoria.
